Far too often I stumble upon a seriously good thought and just let it slip away. On a good day, I’ll write it down in my generic iPhone notes app, aka the abyss. But usually I just hope that the 15 seconds we had together was enough for that thought to lodge itself into some unknown corner of my subconscious.
Then there’s the accumulation of these good thoughts, which I consider to be my ongoing, belief-forming dialogue.
My beliefs have changed over the years, but I didn’t necessarily guide them to their current place. It’s mostly been a subconscious evolution thanks to this belief-forming dialogue around me. My dialogue is a mix of all the life experiences, influential relationships, good books, deep conversations, philosophical reflections, and anything else helping my beliefs to grow, whether or not I’m aware of it.
I’ve decided I want to be a more conscious participant. Surely if I take an active role participating in my belief-forming dialogue, I’ll gain some clarity on the big, life questions I’ve been wrestling with. That’s why I’m developing this app—my hope is that if I can recreate some of our subconscious processes as tangible, digital tools, then we’ll have an easier way to participate in our thinking and beliefs.
