Far too often I stumble upon a seriously good thought and just let it slip away. On a good day, I’ll write it down in my generic iPhone notes app, aka the abyss. But usually I just hope that the 15 seconds we had together was enough for that thought to lodge itself into some unknown corner of my subconscious.
A lot of these thoughts deserve something more. Especially the philosophical thoughts that directly affect my beliefs.
My beliefs have changed over the years, but I didn’t necessarily guide them to their current place. It’s mostly been a subconscious evolution thanks to an ongoing, belief-forming dialogue around me. I think of my belief dialogue as the mix of all the life experiences, influential relationships, good books, deep conversations, philosophical reflections, and anything else helping my beliefs to grow, whether or not I’m aware of it.
I’ve started developing an app to help me interact with my thoughts. The idea is that I add my thoughts, and the app provides tools to dissect, assess, or explore them. Every time I add a thought, it appears in a physical and interactive copy of my ongoing belief dialogue, and, with this digital copy, I can actively participate in my dialogue.
